Homework is an important part of helping children practise and reinforce their learning at home. In Year 6, homework will be sent home every Friday and is expected to be returned by the following Wednesday.
Each week, children will receive three pieces of homework, along with weekly spellings to practise. We also ask that children read at home at least four times a week, and this should be recorded in their reading diaries.
In addition, your child will be given a project-based homework task each half term. This is designed to encourage creativity, independent thinking, and pride in their work. Project homework should be brought back into school before the final week of the half term, ready to be celebrated and shared.
We really value the effort children put into their home learning and encourage them to take pride in what they produce.
To help the children feel as fresh, calm and prepared as possible next week, we would really appreciate your support with the following over the weekend and during SATs week:
- Encourage plenty of rest and an early bedtime the night before any test.
- Ensure children have a healthy breakfast each morning.
- Try to keep the weekend relaxed with some outdoor activities, fresh air and downtime.
- Please ensure your child arrives at school by 8:35am each morning so they have time to settle calmly before the tests begin.
- Monday: SPaG Paper 1 (Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling) and SPaG Paper 2 (Spelling)
- Tuesday: Reading
- Wednesday: Maths Paper 1 (Arithmetic) and Maths Paper 2 (Reasoning)
- Thursday: Maths Paper 3 (Reasoning)
Most importantly, we want the children to know that SATs are simply a chance to show what they know. We are incredibly proud of every single one of them already.
